Welcome to the High Altitude Training Centre

The High Altitude Training Centre (HATC), was founded by World Champion Lornah Kiplagat in 1999. The HATC was officially opened in November 2000 by Mr. Kip Keino, Athletic legend from kenya and member of IOC.

Lornah's vision was to provide young women the opportunity to train and live under the most ideal circumstances so that they could build up a career in athletics and work on their academic skills. Currenlty, the vision has changed because Lornah is setting up a boarding school for girls, the Lornah Kiplagat Sports Academy. The HATC is now open to athletes and tourists from all over the World. The HATC welcomes runners, triathletes, mountain bikers and people who just look for a nice and quite place where they can relax and train.

Lornah Kiplagat is the founder of the HATC and is 4 times World Champion. She is holder of the World records over 5 K, 10 Mile, 20 K and Half Marathon and competed two times for the Netherlands in the Olympics, in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. Het goal is the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London.

There are lots of possibilities for training at the HATC. Hundreds of miles of dirt roads are surrounding the Centre. There is a 400 meter track near the HATC.
